My experience as a ten year old.
As a ten year old I haven’t been to very many triathlons. But this one was definitely the best (apart from our one of course!!). It was located in Cloghead in Co. Louth, on Saturday the 25th of May. It was a very long drive but worth it when Dad found out his results. It had the most spectacular scenery and as Dad says himself “beautiful. Just lovely”. When we arrived, we found ourselves in a car park. It was so handy, as the transition, the swim and the finish line were all in the same place. Where we were parked we could see the cyclists , so I could see when Dad was coming .There was three waves for the swim and Dad was in the first one , so he wasn’t waiting around . For the swim it was very windy and choppy. As a result of that, most of the spectators couldn’t see the competitors, while they were swimming. As soon as I saw Dad coming, I shot up the beach to record him .He was 4th in his age group for the swim. Next was the cycle. He had dismounted so quick that one of his cycling shoes went flying out in front of him. He didn’t waste a millisecond scooping it back up and ran to transition to start the run. For the cycle he was 6th in his age group. As for the run he did tremendously well finishing the last leg of the triathlon, and finished in a time of 1 hour, nine minutes and 49 seconds coming 6th in his age group. Over all, out of 195 people , dad came 29th and 6th in his age group . The moral of the story “a broken back is only the start!!!”.
